Hi I would like to know how many people on here service there cars themselves who are not mechanics, I'm not talking a new clutch or anything but oil,diff/gearbox oil, coolant, brakes and sparkplugs as times are hard and I've got the fluids etc was considering doing the jobs myself, is there any of the above I should stay away from, and is there any novices tackled these themselves?

I do all my own servicing on the wagon, would take on a clutch if I had time. I have rebuilt a Daimler Double six V12 from scratch and three skyline cambelts so it certainly pays to do what you can.

When changing the plugs you'll need to take out the battery, washer bottle and air box plus the air scoop. Gives just enough space

where is the crank sensor in the engine bay (pic if possible) and how do you know when the oil is to pressure, also how do you crank the engine to achieve the pressure all advice is very welcome that's so far, do use just use jacks or do you put the car on axle stands, the ramps I tried hit the bumper before the wheel

Hi the crank sensor is just under the alternator at the front of the engine. To obtain oil pressure after an oil change you can unplug the crank sensor and turn over the engine on the starter to prime the oil pump until the oil pressure light goes out. I use drive on stands when I change my oil.

With the crank sensor unplugged will this stop the engine starting therefore prime the oil only with the starter??? Also the drive on ramps I tried just hit the front bumper I'll look around for ramps that aren't so steep
