About 4-5k should do it.
2.5k- gearbox, diff, drive shafts, hubs ect
1k- engine
800 quid brakes
New set of sti wheels to clear brakes.
Plus all other bits like ecu, intercooler, turbo, water sprayer, spoiler. The list is pretty big and the cost far more substantial than selling up and buying an sti.

I would say that still depends what you want from impreza.

If stock STI is sufficient than go for STI.If you wanna build up a monster stick with WRX(people are basically changing all that is OEM on STI except for the gear box).

You can pick up a decent 03 for 7k I spent more just so I could get a low mileage model with no mods, but you'll definately appreciate the performance and potential for future upgrades. Looking back I may have gone for a later model for the DCCD but enjoy what I have. You won't look back!

Cheers guys. Been looking on piston heads there is a few on. My wrx has only done 50k. Don't mind going abit higher on mileage & maybe drop to an 03 plate. Never know someone might want a straight swap! (I bloody wish)
