Or VF 35 ....much easier to source than 34.

You will need remap(Ecutek).

Boost controller is a massive no no mate.

Do your research, an MY99-00 requires an ECUtek map, this is the ONLY one available for a standard ecu. You can buy a simtek or apexi if you want standalone but it'll cost you a grand.

Bolt on your mods without mapping and you'll go bang very quicky.

Any of the VF range of turbo's will give you a decent spool up and power increase. VF23 is good for 300bhp, VF30 is a popular choice and the VF35 (which I have) is good for 340bhp.

You also want a 3 port boost solenoid with that set-up you have.

They can be remapped, you just have to buy the licence for it. Contact Bob Rawle http://www.brdevelopments.com or any other recommended mapper for more info

I'm running a VF28 on my MY00 UK Turbo. It's a little bit quicker spooling than a VF35 but still happily cranks out 330bhp.

very surprised to see how many people bolt on a manual boost controller and wind up the boost !! just get it mapped and tune by a pro and it will produce what the expert thinks is the correct amount of boost .

Completely agree, wiith e remap and factory boost control you still retain an element of safety where the ecu can pull back if it detects knock.

i wouldnt worry about simtek personally . just pay for ecutek license which is about 650-700 quid and you can achieve 350bhp depending on your choice of turbo ?

TD05 20G is too big and too laggy, plus it would eat your engine so you have a few options, vf34 roller bearing turbo, vf30 sleeve bearing turbo (brother to the 34), vf35 sleeve bearing turbo or vf48 sleeve bearing turbo.
The last one being the most modern IHI turbo and is meant to be very good
You could then always jump on the ferry and pop over to the UK, book in with a mapper and have the car mapped

A sleeve bearing turbo has a sleeve/collar that supports the shaft.
A ballbearing turbo uses ball bearings which tend to allow quicker spool up and require a lesser flow of oil to lubricate them.

Also that's not a bad price for the vf23 , when remapped with good supporting mods ,they can make way over 300bhp closer to 320. + imho
