Default Check Engine Light

hi guys i have a classic impresa turbo on my way home tonight the red check engine light came on when i got home i turner the car of whent for a torch started back up light was out any ideas what causes this to come on or can it be numerous things.

If your a paranoid android like me worth getting it plugged into the old diagnostic see if any errors come up from your local specialist.

iv got it on my classic aswell mate thought it was because i had a split turbo pipe but replaced that and found out that it was because of my decat hope this helps

You'll have a job getting a diagnostic tester to read the codes. Try connecting the diagnostic plugs under the dash and letting us know what you find. Maybe you get some more useful information.
Search on here for fault code retrieval or look on Jolly Green Monster's website for instructions. I'm sure it's on there.

cheers guys for the info will ask my mate to plug his machine it see what it says he has a £2,500 snap on diagnostic machine just hope he has the card for the import subaru and hopefully at that price it should read the car

Mine came on a few weeks ago,but I couldn't find a garage that could use a fault code reader.Someone on here told me about the on board diagnostics with joining the wires under the dash and it works a treat.Check here.

It resets the ecu and checks everything,then gives you the code by way of the engine light flashes,then that check the code against that link and you're away.
