Default check engine light

Guys, you may know the reason for this from the top of your head, well i'm hoping you do anyway.

I have a v2 sti 555. Engine all standard, i have a cat in the downpipe, the rest of the system is decatted.

I've had the car for 3 years and I've had no issues with it until now.

The problem I have is that whenever i come off the throttle to slow down ( Overrun ) , my engine light comes on when it dips to about 2000rpm. To get rid of the light, I have to dip the clutch and let the rpm drop to its idle speed which then knocks out the engine light.

It does this everytime when driving the car no matter if its warm or cold.

Any ideas? ??

Weird one that.
Have you run the onboard diagnostics to see if there's a fault code there?

Danny.

Hi Danny,

abit late I know but I've now run the diagnostics on the CHECK Engine Light and it popped up with Idle Control Valve.

Over last weekend, I got a replacement idle valve and fingers were crossed all was okay.

After fitting this new valve, I've not used the car until this morning and the damn thing is doing it again.

My thinking now, is that it could be anything from the following :

Plugs - but then I have to ask why is it only when the revs are falling the light comes on, full boost is no problem
MAF sensor
Coil packs over the plugs - again have to ask why only slowing down and on full boost, all is okay.

Any idea's ?
