Default have i reset my map?

hi guys ive not been on here for a while an would use the search button but dont have the time.
my car is a classic turbo on a 99 plate. had it remapped lat yr to 340bhp boosting at 20 psi with mods involving a vf35, k+n filter with a newage maf conversion, full decat, 800cc injectors, fmic, fuel pump, 3 port solenoid. i thought was bad on fuel so i done an ecu test an reset an now since done that the car only boosts to 8psi. i have checked for leaks an next plan is to check boost solenoid an dump valve but anybody had this happen to them before an have an idea what could possibly be. thanks for you help

No you have not reset your map, its the map you had done last year, you have reset your ecu which means resetting all the error counters back to zero (easier to think of it this way).

I reset mine last week and drove it slow for the rest of the day.
Immediately after resetting the ecu I think it advances the timing slowly so it will feel different for a short while.
As far as I know resetting the ecu doesn't mess with the map settings. It just clears the fault codes if there was any and gets use to the fuel again.
Of course I could be wrong though. These are just my thoughts after doing the same thing.Once I floored it a couple of times it was back to normal.

Danny.

PS forgot to mention,my reason for resetting mine was to run a fault check after changing the MAF.

i never have resetted since the map i had an with having newage maf conversion i dunno if that has anything to do with it. i know standard if i did reset the map it would boost to 14psi but 8psi seems wierd. it idles an drives fine under no boost. if my turbo had blown would it smoke or not boost at all?

If it was boosting fine before you reset I would think the turbo should be fine.
I don't know about the newage maf conversion.Hopefully someone will chime in that's done the same conversion.

not possible to erase the map.. remove learnt data yes.. but it should relearn fairly quick.

Only reason it would drop the boost is if the ignition was retarded sufficently for the ecu to do so as a safety precaution.. is it on decent fuel? or the old stuff thats been in there ages?

If in limp mode the engine light should be on.

Might be worth resetting it again

on a 99 the reset will put the advance multiplier back to 8.. when all is 100% it sits at 16.. as you drive on halfish throttle with some boost it will slowly advance that multiplier if there is no knock readings etc..
I would reset it when engine is warm, then drive it gently for a few miles and then do a few mid throttle pulls up through the rev range and build up to full throttle.. it should be boosting at full boost.

I meant the ecu listening for knock etc.. but obviously if it was knocking the knock link with light up.

Pull vac hose off actuator.

Drive carefully and put foot down and watch boost gauge.

Stop as soon a boost goes above normal boost level, this you said 20psi on gauge.

If it stays at 8psi then problem is wastegate related/actuator.

If it boosts high then issue is plumbing, solenoid, wiring to solenoid, ecu, or ec is pulling boost back due to detecting an issue.

hi simon took the hose off an the boost went up to 20psi no probs so i suspect somthing more major. will give boost solenoid a clean. is there anything that can cause this that wont throw up a fault code on an ecu reset?
