Hi guys Has anyone used the japanese import td05 18g or 20g turbos off ebay

 

No, but the common concensus is AVOID. A bit of advice to grace post #4000.

 

Stay well away mate.

If you buy one, I bet you'll be looking at the 'sale' section here within a month for a second hand turbo as that ebay one will fall apart.

 

Some are ok, some are not ok. The problem is knowing which ones are good and what are not. We have a 20g 'ebay' type turbo ready to go on our test car, (see signature below), when we're ready to test it.

Just bear in mind that a lot of high profile and branded parts get manufactured externally in factories in China. The problem is, it is all to easy for those manufacturers to then copy the products they are making and produce them with lower grade materials and slacker quality control and then sell them for a much cheaper price.

So there is a fairly big risk that it may not be quite what you were hoping for.
