Best upgrades before an Ecutek remap
Lo folks
I have a my99 UK 2000 that I'm planning to get mapped at some point
Currently standard engine wise but have the following upgrades done already
Green panel filter
Walbro fuel pump
Lightweight flywheel
SARD sports cat
Full stainless 3" cat back system
Considering a turbo upgrade before the map but unsure on my best options
Don't want anything 300+ just want good gains if i'm going to pay to have it mapped

If you don't want anything higher than 270ish (you won't get 300 out of a TD04) stick with the spec above but I'd go for a Simtek ECU than an ecutek remap; it will be a nicer drive with that e.g. Std ECU has an annoying emissions related boost cut feature and does not support in gear boost compensation, it's also maf based and mafs are a notorious weakness on MY99s.
Been there, done that as they say! :-)

Yeah I got myself a new MAF as soon as I got the car due to the weakness on the my99's
I'm considering a different turbo, injectors and a 3 port boost solenoid
That the best way to go?

changing the turbo is a waste of time if you dont wanna go over 300. could try headers and a full decat to get a few extra, but the turbo is your limitation. So realy it depends on you. Your limited to 260-270 max on a td04, if you change the turbo then your well over 300.
so you need to decide, are you gonna change the turbo and ignore the 300 limit or keep the turbo and stay clear of 300?

I can ignore the 300 limit providing I wont have to start upgrading the gearbox etc
Really I just want to make sure the initial outlay on the remap is money well spent, so getting any worthwhile upgrades done just before

Ah right, yeah chuck a turbo at it. Injestors will be fine as is, a vf35, vf34 will prob be your best bet to pick up cheap second hand, more likely vf35. Mapped conservatively will see a nice 320 ish.
