If its your engine just standard, don't fit any boost controller.

Boost controller i would fit only at this case,if you are looking for more than 1.6 -1.7bar on standard ECU(new age)

Some after market ECU have excellent boost control and they don't need any boost controller.

Best for you will be remap with supported mods like exhaust, panel filter,3-port boost solenoid etc.

If you are looking for best boost controller,i would recommend Apexi AVC-R,but at stage if your ECU can't control boost...

The ecu sounds better to me thats just a plug in type this isn't it doesn't involve any new wiring etc?!
This is all new to me so im trying to take it all in! sorry.
I have a full prodrive exhaust if that helps?! I was talking to my friend about panel filters tonight i was also going to ask the best one to buy. I shall have a look in to the 3 port and these mods with a remap sounds more simple for extra bit of power gain.

Thank you for your reply much appreciated.

What model of Impreza you have?WRX or STi?And year?

If you have 2001 onwards WRX your ECU is mappable via OS or EcuTek and with right parts you should have 270-280bhp

Parts for this i would recommend:3-port boost solenoid,Decatted exhaust(including Downpipe and Up pipe),Walbro 255lph,K&N panel filter or Green Cotton Panel Filter and

Remap from Neil@Slowboy Racing,Duncan@Race dynamix,Graham@Engine Mapper,Rich@FB Tuning,Simon@JGM etc.

For Boost solenoid i would have look on ebay or here for sale section,3-port boost solenoid will fit for you mapper,if you fit 3-port boost solenoid you will must run off the boost until remap, some mappers have 3-port boost solenoids on day of remap, just ask before.

As an example B Rawle would fit one then map the car which avoids potential damage to the car if waiting for a remap. Harvey on here sells them, look in the trader section.

TX.

PS. Little need for one unless you've had other stuff done (mods) as the 3 port just helps the mapper map!

I would disagree,3-port just not help mapper map,but mainly help better control boost.

Usually depends on mapper if have one on the day of remap or no,but what i know mappers they usually have.

OP, what model year and what model subaru do you own?

3 port boost solenoid.... depends on how much power your going for, probably not worth it below 300bhp on most cars, definately a waste of time on a car running 250bhp for example

Hello guys, Sorry for a late reply i have only just got back online!!

I have a standard 2001 Wrx.

Thank you for the replies, I think im getting myself really confused,

I Have purchased a 3 port off ebay, So now do i take this to get fitted and mapped on the same day?
I shall be buying the panel filter before she goes into somewhere to be done.
Or do you recommend me doing the exhaust before having these 2 fitted and mapped?

Kind regards
