Default starting problems

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.got a slight issue starting my 96WRX import.
It's fitted with a toad alarm/immob.
I drove it earlier, was a little hesitant to start but fired up.it ran bit low on revs for couple secs then fine.
Left it in a car park for round 20mins have come back an it won't start :-( its turning over just not firing up.

Tried:
-locking and unlocking (still inside car)
-pressing the little button to deactivate immob if not started within 30 secs
-locking an unlocking (outside car)
-locking an leavin for few mins

Is there some sort of cut off switch anywhere?

Just awaiting recovery :-(

It sounds like it could be a MAF issue to me, but more obvious things to check is the coil pack to make sure it's firing a spark.

Well the recovery came,he said "its your battery!!!"
Me "no its not,I've got power"
So he attaches the booster box, after a minute, says "not your battery, you got power!!"

On the back of the low loader it goes,20 mile trip to a garage, roll it off, garage guy says "fire it up"

ONLY WENT AN POXY STARTED!!!!! WTF!!??!!

So I've left it there for them to have a look an see if it was luck it started or freak of nature it wouldn't. But they say could be fuel pump related possible dodgey sensor/relay.

hi i had the exact same problem in my 96 sti. it was caused by the wiring harness going to fuel put getting hot and almost catching fire. the connector in the harness was getting hot and causing the non starting but when it cools down it would start.. the fuel pump was also on way out and was creating a lot of current through the wire causing the overheat

hope this helps

it cost me about 300 in diagnostic work to find it because when i took it in it was running had to wait till it broke down and take it in not running. then hook it up to check it before firing it up

Cheers fella. Just spoke to a workmate who has a highly tuned 300zx and he said a very similar story, about an ignition unit getting hot and causing the same thing. So sounds like it could be this.

Was it expensive/a pain to rectify?

no once the problem was found it took about an hour they cut out the bad connector and replaced the wires problem solved. think my fuel pump is on way out as advised so will need to replace soon as the high current from fuel pump started the problem
