Default Air filter dump valve

I wanted to get some noise out of my 2002 STI

Whats the bestway?

I looked under the bonnet and there does not look like much room for a cone filter.

Is there any guides?

I just wanted the traditional dumpvalve noise!

If the car is standard forget about a cone filter they are not needed till you reach at least 400bhp, the standard airbox set up is well designed so only needs a decent panel filter like k/n etc if you change to a cone filter the car will need a remap, and the car will run much better with the standard re circ dump valve.

then u need a dump valve ?

there is loads of room for a cone filter but will make not much difference to sound ! thats for the exhaust to do !! also fitting induction kit then u will need to re-map your ecu . if u want noise then decat your exhaust system fully also i would reccomend keeping dump valve standard or forge motorsports ! and make sure its a recirculating one !! or avoid .

What is it your wanting?

a) Noise with no performance effects???

b) Noise with performance effects???

If its "a" dont bother you will regret it in the long run. If its "b" you will need to sit down and think through what it is you require. Ambitions with the car, Budget, Annual Mileage etc etc.

As said putting on a aftermarket VTA dump valve is pontless, and if you decide to go with a say decat exhaust then you will likely need a remap, so thats £250 - £550 depending what, where and who you use. So if you going for the exhaust you might aswell think what else you require to make the "remap" worth while in terms of performance.

Was recommended Cosworth panel filter and standard scooby original recirc valve (as well as the 255 fuel pump prior to tidying up with a remap.
