Question

Question for you all.

car is MY94 WRX Wagon, with a somewhat dented bonnet (as some will know)

Been offered a 97-00 alloy bonnet for a very, very good price.

Question is, what do I need to do to the car to get this to fit?

I know I'd need a new grill, but would a new grill be a direct slot in replacement for the old one? or is there black magic involved.

also, a more serious problem is the scoop, in that it's different (bigger?) on a later car, plus the IC on later cars is not angled, so what would need to be done to get the correct airflow?

Im fairly sure you need to change the lights as well.. (actually no you dont thinking about it as you have the newer morettes... it will just bolt on.. lower the bonnet down slowly or when they are both off the car compare them and then trim appropriately... maybe a good excuse to put a more efficient sti Intercooler on!

Can you fit a new non angled intercooler to an older car? is it just a case of unbolt and bolt on?

Markus I read on another post (so not sure if this works) that someone had just transferred the plate from the underside of the old bonnet to the new bonnet, so that the air was still directed to the intercooler.

Thanks.

have spoken to a few people who said that the slant IC with newer bonnet should be ok anyway, so I might go that route. I'm still thinking about it though.

Question

Hi Markus,

I have a new shape bonnet on an early car. You need the bonnet. lights and grill. To duct the air to the intercooler i bodged together the new duct to the old duct (with a bit of aluminium thrown in) and it works perfectly. You wouldn't know it wasn't made that way.

I'll post some pictures of it tonight so you get a better idea of what i did.

Tony.

Thanks Tony.

i'd only need the grill, and scoop, as I have morettes, and the vents are not a problem as I'd get some of Stuart Knight's scoops to cover them

Markus,

If you go that route would you be interested in selling me your stuart knight scoops ?

I did look at this conversion but pulled away due to the intercooler, once I have the readys I'll do it but with a fmic & an oil cooler when the tmic currently is.
