i sadly found out today that my head gasket is blown thought it was something else but tomorrow im going for a proper head gasket test down at a engine specialist just to make 100% sure.

iv got a x reg 2.0 sports special and was wondering what engine to drop in, will any EJ20 engine fit? i was told my car is a facelift so it will need a engine from a facelift impreza (honeycomb grill and curved bonnet)

but now im thinking should i drop a beastier engine in? i have no idea what will fit directly in so any advice would be really appriecated guys

It doesnt quite work with just dropping a "bigger" powered engine in, replace like for like or you will be out of pocket (its cheaper to buy a turbo than replace the engine/gearbox/clutch/brakes etc) as a sport wont take the power through the drive train.

Ahh yeah I googled turbos before and read about that, I ment a non turbo engine, I'm more intrested in just fixing my car but didn't wana miss an oportunity if there was a direct fit 2.5 litre or something similair

There is the 2ltr RX 170bhp engine, you would probably need the ecu and loom though if you could find one of those engines, you may well be best asking on impreza sport forum
