Default version 4 to v5 wiring

Hi I'm trying to find out whats involved in fitting a v5 engine to a classic (just wiring) the throttle body and idle control have different amount/colour wires is it poss to alter this around so the v4 ecu can get a proper reading , or would it just be better to change the heads and manifold to v3/4 ,,,thanks in advance Ian

v4 & v5 have different wires due to ECU being different, you will have to swap the whole wiring to make it work as it should + the V5 ecu has to be fitted once the wiring has been changed. but why do you want to change the wiring? if you are trying to fit a mappable ECU from v5 you better off with different ecu ( Apexi power fc, simtek, etc)and just use the original wiring from V4.

The reason for the question is my engine has let go with v4 heads running v4 electrics, but I have picked up a stop gap engine that has v5 heads on and was thinking is it possible to to make the v5 idle control and throtle position sensors work with a v4 ecu or do they put out different signals/values , If they are not I will just change the heads over to V4 thanks Ian
