Advice on bigger bhp on wrx bugeye wagon
Hello all i have had My bugeye wrx wagon for just over a year now i bought it with the ppp package so should be around the 260-270 mark i have changed the prodrive backbox for the afterburner vortex system as i much prefer the sound now i am after some more power output!!
I have read many threads on upgrades bigger turbos and injectors and stuff i must add my mileage is now on 128,000 and i have also read that nicely modded engines sell for around £2000 so i am not sure whether it would be worth adding a new turbo some sti pinks and a sti top mount and a remap with the engines age or buying a new engine
does any1 have any advice for me and maybe prices on my options thanks again

it costs more , but i'd go for a rebuild on your engine so you know exactly what your getting then you can get metal gaskets , silicone hoses ,injectors and loads of other bits fitted for free ready for the power hike

Depends for how much BHP you are looking,if you are looking for 330-350bhp here is plenty threads about the recommendations.
But still if you want go above this bhp,you will need 6speed and better brakes, and this is not cheap.
WRX engines are good up to 400bhp with right mods, but not everyone will make this BHP,i would recommend get your car to Subaru specialist and get done Health check(compression,AFR,det etc.)and later go forward with tuning your car.

Thanks for the replys yeah i was looking for around the 350 mark really
I have a really good nick shell i would like to run the engine into the ground rather than get an sti then when it does give up would like to get a sti engine put in!!
The engine has a full service history and only had two owners not including me so has been well looked after so wasnt sure if it would not be advisable adding the new turbo and stuff to get to that mark how much would a complete rebuild be in the region of??
Also which turbos would be better the vf35 or a td05 16g or 18g i take it they come onto boost a differnent rpms still learning a lot about turbo engines lol
cheers

Hi there
is hard to say when engine need refreshing, but if its engine det free and AFR is OK,compression too i would say you can modified.
Best turbo which is suited for WRX is VF30,VF35 and my favorite VF34,i have this and this turbo has been just amazing on WRX,probably best turbo i have before.
You will need also decatted exhaust with decatted up pipe(personally i would go for Harvey Ported Headers with Up pipe),550cc injectors STi one,3 port boost solenoid and STi TMIC or you can go route of FMIC.
