Question for the experienced
Why when I start the car does it turn over for ages, then eventually limp into life running really lumpy for a few seconds then clear and run even.....at the same time 'at start up' it reaks of fuel and drops an amount of fuel out through the join in the exhaust manifold under the center of the engine....
It seem to be only one cylinder thats being problematic & once its clear it runs perfectly......
spec: Simtek, 440 inj, high pres fuel pump & thats about it.....
Any info would be appreciated

Could be where you have a slight fuel leak, it is allowing air to enter the fuel system somewhere and let the fuel drain back to the tank. In theory you are bleeding the air out every time you start the car, hence the time it takes to fire up.

I doubt it's a fuel leak as you would have a constant smell of fuel. It's not like a diesel system where the spill returns can seep and then take in air. The system is pressurised the moment you switch the ignition on as the fuel pump primes the system.
By the sounds of it you have an ignition problem. One cylinder is either no spark or weak enough to not allow the fuel air mixture to ignite properly as the fuel system will be on cold enrichment.
Is it running coil per cylinder or a single coil pack?

Another possibility is the crank sensor or cabling to it. I believe it is only used to confirm rotation when starting. The ecu relies on the cam sensor thereafter so the engine will run normally once started. Someone will correct me if I am wrong
Whatever it is good luck fixing it

yeah i had the same problem temp sensor to but i would check your injectors and re-seal your exhaust flange with a new gasket ,if you get it plugged in and get your live data read you will see if your temp sensor is within it peramiters good luck
