Default Correct lambda location ?

Hi all,

I have a UK Impreza Turbo, year 2000.

As above, where is the correct location for the lambda - RH manifold bend or just behind the turbo ?

Two reasons for asking:

Using JustLambda's cross ref guide with the OE part number I have (22690AA321), with the length of lead (& correct plug) it suggests it's long enough to go into the manifold bend.

Secondly, does it make a difference to where it's fitted ?
IF it'd supposed to go into the manifold, I'm guessing that it would heat slightly quicker - if it's the case, could it may then end my long standing issue of overfuelling for first few seconds after start up ?

Present, new lambda is fitted just behind the turbo.

Thanks in advance,

It's much better after the turbo anyway.

As if it breaks up, it won't be swept into the turbo! Instead the gas stream will sweep it harmlessly out through the tailpipe.

No. Leave it. Otherwise you won't enjoy off-boost closed-loop fuelling (less fuel used/emissions kept in check).

The thing in the d/p you've just removed (for the decat one), was probably the EGT sensor - which you now don't need because of no cat in the downpipe anymore.

If there is one in the manifold I would remove it, and mount it in the downpipe.
If it ever fails the parts can not go through your turbo that way, and also the manifold might be to hot for the lambda sensor.
