Wd40 spray on
Autoglym bug remover
Drop of petrol on a cloth (be very careful )

Use an old credit card as a scraper as your fingers will wear out

Hair dryer sometimes helps soften it as well

Make sure you don't have a belt buckle or watch or keys /coins in your pockets as you don't want to scratch the side as your rubbing

What he said.

If you know a good bodyshop i'd get them to have a look before you buy.
