Im pretty sure you cant map a 98 model so you will need a ecu for sure.

will this be a front entry conversion? will it be a bolt on? are you changing anything else? are there other modifications to the car? have you got a remappable ecu? you can fit any turbo you want to the car. if you are looking to fit a bigger turbo onto your your car because someone said "yeah get a TD05" then there is a bit more to it than that I'm afraid.

Some more information about the car would help us to give you a better answer.

The ecu i've been told is not mappable. I have full stainless exhaust system thats bout it. I didn't think it would be a straight swap, but just thought i'd ask incase. So guessing i could if i had mappable ecu.

I'm in the process of getting a td-05 that's front entry converted on my00 classic. I'm going down the simtek ecu route. Is your ecu not open source mappable?

Fraid not ,on your 2000 car you have a few choices - ecu tec,or simtek
1997-1998 ecu not mappable at least for the momment. Open source tends to be more for the newage cars 2001 onwards.

I can't believe that someone has not found away to remap a standard 1997-1998 ecu.
