Default idle problems

Once warmed up my97 sti goes from 1000 to 1300 for a while then back again. Also it stinks of boiling water. The head gasket has just been done, before that the car was running hks air filter, fuel pressure reg, and standard downpipe it now has panel filter decat downpipe, blitz r exhaust, no fuel pressure reg. Any ideas?

Ive just checked the ecu and its given me 23, MAF sensor circuit fault code... What do I have to do to rectify this problem?? Thanks in advance... Im goin out for a skin full, rude not to

try cleaning the maf or if that doesnt work then a new maf would be a start

new maff dude,,, but that wont cure the stink of boiling water, take it back to the guy who did the heads for ya,, somthing aint wright,..

try clean it then reset the ecu and see how it does if not new maf im afraid.

Which 1 you do is depending on the car you have.(newage or classic)

i have cleaned the MAF sensor and my Idle control valve, but still have the same problem. it was fine for about 2 minutes. i did an ECU reset but could take the car for a drive as its got no tax at the mo. new MAF sensor it is then i guess :-(

also my idle is 1200rpm even with the ICV turned back as far as it will go
