Default engine check light on after fitting custom race tube?

yesterday i made and fitted a custom 3" race tube, its on a v2 sti running standard everything except hks panel filter and decat.

pulling up to a T jct and stopping to turn right, my revs raise up to about 1500, then up to about 1800 revs. then my engine check light comes on and it runs like ****??
i turned it off for a few seconds then restarted it, hasnt done it again since tho.

just wondered if anyone has had similar problems when fitting a race tube? just dont want anything to break, and fix the problem to prevent it happening again!

Andrew

Remove "race tube", go back to standard, see if cel clears.

Got a race tube on my RA, had no problems with it fitted whatsoever.

Possibly just a coincidence or you've knocked something when fitting it.

Have you read the codes yet?

not read any codes yet (not entirly sure how too), race tube is 3'' exhaust no boxes from turbo to tip. cobra sell an exhaust which is basicly the same, like this;

what should i be checking for with regards to the idle control valve?

As for as fitting the race tube and the CEL id say its pure coincidence. You should have a fault stored in your history so find out what code has been tripped.
