Looks like its dead -WRX drinking coolant
It's looking like the '99 WRX Wagon is dead. Had a leaky radiator, thought it was fixed (Kseal, please be kind) but then the check engine light came on. Changed rad, no leak but water dissapearing. To cut a long and painful story short a local garage checked the fumes from the coolant tank tonight with the exhaust analyser and apparently with that reading it would fail the MOT.... Either the head gasket(s) is knackard or something is cracked.
Dilema I need some openions on if possible. Car's done 160k, not bad condition except one rear arch needs rebuilding and the exhaust is blowing.
Would you scrap it, repair it or break it for ebay (got 4-pots, anything else worth anything?). Without knowing alot about rebuilding these motors (done others, never boxer), is it a case of putting a 2nd hand engine in rather than rebuilding?
Any advise from anyone who has been through the same much appreciated. Gutted.
Thanks.
