Default Fuel, fuel pumps and pressure regs.

Hi guys as some of you may be aware I have killed the 1998 EJ20t engine in my VW based beach buggy, while I'm gathering money to finish the rebuild I am looking at a few areas that may need attention.

One main area is the fuel pump and pressure, I have been advised to use Shell Optimax when I'm back on the road so thats what I will do but I have some questions about fuel pressure regs and fuel pumps.

I have a single pump fitted which is a Bosch 044 pump, is this alone enough for my engine as standard and later on will it cope when I increase power with different injectors and turbo?
The next question is regarding a fuel pressure reg, do I have one fitted as standard? If so will I need to alter anything when I do change turbo and injectors?

Thanks in advance Ian.

It will be on the fuel rail. I would advise changing it based solely on it's age...

Cheers Dunx will take a look at the weekend.

Think when funds allow I will be replacing the bottom end with a new ish STi one so hopefully this should handle any power upgrades I want to do.

My ECU is an 8S which I believe is unmappable but have seen ESL now do the daughter board so will go down this route.

How is the petrol getting to the 044 is it gravity or do you have a lift pump?
