Default Flat Battery Symptoms,But only the once

My 95 classic every few weeks will give the symptoms of a flat battery, even tho say, i just drove it somewhere and pulled up.

so,you turn the ignition key to the turn over postition, click click click from the solenoid, hmm, try again, the same,so,try again, whilst the solenoid is clicking i try the horn, weak as anything, undo the windows, nope, they stop coming down or if already down, wont go back up.

so i get someone to use jump leads, she fires up straight away and then,if you turn the engine off, turn the ignition key to start it,it fires up like normal, try several times, fires up fine and will continue to do so for x amount of days

So,could it be a fubard starter motor draining the battery when it say, jams into position to cause the click click click sound or,could it just be a duff battery ?

using a multimeter i get 14+ volts at idle and throught the rev range and the battery is 12+ volts with engine off

and breath

cheers

well,it Is the Battery LOL

just done some tests on it,cause the alternator pumps some juice into it,it will start fine if ignition is on and the car is turned over straight away,BUT,if you say, turn ignition on but dont turn it over, the zap of the juice from the heater matrix fan sucks the juice right out, waya,so,from 12.5 it goes right down to 8.5 over a few mins LOL !!

i then turned the lights on and it went to 7.2v and just gave up,all instument lites go off

so,my varta battery lasted 4 yrs
