I run a uk MY99. Would there be anything to gain from running SUL or Optimax. I read somewhere that there is a performance increase and better fuel economy which covers for the extra financial outlay. Any views on the subject would be nice from those of you in the know. Thanks in advance.

used to run ordinary unleaded when we first got our scoob, after talking to people at meets, decided to switch to super plus, was told that the car needs to adjust to the newer fuel, allow 3 tanks before you judge any difference. Personally think that the car is more responsive using super plus, so we wont use anything else.
Welcome to scoobynet very nice people on here. Suggest you look in the events threads for meetings in your area, and pop along, you'll meet some nice people with nice cars and get alot of information.

Welcome Brun
Do it! You should notice quite a difference. My old MY00 was run on normal unleaded for about a year. I then changed to SUL - b**ger me!! Give it at least a couple of tanks though unless you do a forced ECU reset.
You get the same effect on the MY01's accept that the ECU will learn a lot quicker. I run my MY01 on Optimax and I also have a couple of bottles of octane booster laying around the garage, so I thought I would give it a go - very noticable difference

I've a UK MY99 as well and have been running NUL for 11 months - but recently changed to SUL. Had around 4 tanks full and it does feel happier (before fitting the Dawes of course - since then it's a different car ).
I've found the fuel enconomy has indeed gone up - not a massive amount but there is an improvement.
Edited to say that I'm not going back to NUL - which says everything.
Richard.

Thanx for the warm welcome! I think my motor will be getting a drink of the good stuff tonight. I'll let you know how i go, keeping a close eye on the mpg of course. At the mo i'm averaging between 18 and 19 2 the gallon. There is too much fun to be had with the right foot.
What is this Dawes thing that i see mentioned everywhere? what gains are to be had? How does it work? Am i asking too many questions? oops that's another! Catcha laters all!
