Default Oil usage for 02 wrx :(

Recently bought an 03 WRX turbo with 42k on the clock, I checked the oil when the engine was cold, when I first got it and it was above the Max line just slightly, now a few weeks on and I have done about 2K miles so now on about 44K, and the oil level is on the Min line

I have driven it pretty hard for those 2K miles, does anyone know if this would be normal oil usage? I am a bit worried

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

(title was meant to say 03)

Had a quick look around the engine, turbo etc.. earlier can't see anything obvious, no smoke from exhuast, the car seems to run fine too

Just topped it back up to the max line with a messuring jug and it took about 500ml to bring it back to the max, probably not as bad as I first thought, but obviously still using some.

Yea drives and feels fine, and no smoke, I've been searching on google and found some people saying impreza can use upto 1 litre per 3K miles, that seems a lot!

Maybe it was to do with the type of oil in there before I bought it, I remember the guy saying he used Motul 5w30, well I've topped up with a 10w30 castrol oil

Measuring the level is a very tricky business, even the slightest gradient will throw it right off.
