Default 2007 WRX Hawkeye

HI , Just got a 2007 hawkeye WRX.

I was looking at the PPP but only noticed a stage 1 on it. Do they offer a stage 2 ?? Also can anyone recommend a alternative to the stage 2 PPP

Also Pls can someone advise on how strong these engines are ?? I want a bit more power but zero reliability issues/ hg failing etc etc.

What power hike would be safe on these pls.

Give scoobyworld a ring chap, they can advise you on your options and power gains. Last time I visited them they were also about to release a wrx budget power pack which might be worth a look, I believe it was a cat back package, panel filter and remap for a good price.

Have a read through the above as it details what you might want to consider. There is only one PPP by the way.

Purchase a few bits second hand:

VF43 or VF48 turbo, or Harvey 18G
STI intercooler,
replacement uprated air filter,
Walbro Fuel Pump,
Sports cat or decat downpipe,
3 port boost solenoid.

Then get someone like Duncan to map the car. Think I have spent approximtely £1200 so far, £300 on fitting and £350 on remap.

Mine is getting donw tomorrow and Duncan is hoping to see 350bhp. Wouldnt want to go any higher than that for reliability.

Thanks guys so the block / HG etc should be good for about 350bhp roughly ?
Or whats the general consensus on the rating the block can cope with ?

Engine is practically the same as the STI. Also same injectors etc. The gearbox will be the first thing to go if you go above 350hp. At 350hp you will still have to be careful not to do too many fast starts. Will probably need uprated clutch at that power too. Exeddy stage 1 40% uprated should do the job.

No idea! Know of people running over that on standard head gaskets.

The head gaskets on the sti are cometic/metal from the factory and most reckon they are better than the likes of cosworth, not sure on the wrx

Mapped lots of 2.5 wrxs to the 350bhp mark and they have been at that level and been given substantial amounts of abuse for many years without issue. Very very quick road car with that power and torque level of over 350 lb/ft.

See you in a bit Andy

Worth having a chat with a chosen tuner and discussing what you want from the car and what they recommend

Emz has a Harvey Smith 18G, sti tmic, induction kit and full decat.

We limited the torque to be kind to the box - it would do more but erred on the side of caution with it

A VF43 or VF48 would be an equally good choice and recently did one with a VF35 on that was mental to drive on the road with 425 lb/ft of torque and 340bhp and spooled pretty much the same as the td04 !

They seems to be spot on for that level. Have mapped lots at that torque level that have had a very hard life on road and track for the last few years.
