Default Does anybody know part no. or where to buy an O2 sensor (front) for 52reg WRX wagon?

I've just used my fault code reader on the car and it's throwing up "P0031 HO2S Bank 1 Sensor 1 Heat circuit low". After some searching, i've found that this is the O2 sensor in the exhaust header.

I've had a look at the sensor, cable that goes to it and the connector in the engine bay and all looks ok. No obvious damage to wires or anything, so i'm guessing the sensor is goosed. I reset the fault several times and it does clear but then the EML comes back on after 10-20 seconds of idling.

I unplugged the sensor completely and the same fault appeared and wouldn't reset, so i am pretty sure i'm looking in the right place.

Anyway, does anyone know where i can get one from without paying way over the odds at the dealer?

I've found a few on Ebay, including some DENSO ones which i keep reading are the OEM ones. I think it's a 234-4446 that i need if i buy from DENSO but wanted to check before ordering the wrong thing.

Any info or tips much appreciated

Oh and if you're after the genuine item, importcarparts are quite a lot cheaper than Subaru for oem sensor

Hi there just don't buy Bosch Lambda Sensor, these don't work on New Age Impreza(Bugeye onwards) and must have 4 wires and must be Denso.

Thumbs down Is Denso Lambda sensor same as Subaru one?

EM light been lit up for a few weeks now.
Was diagnosed with similar fault code -> pre-cat Lambda Sensor faulty.
Not sure if its called an AF sensoe or Lambda (never mind)

Scooby Clinic & Roger Clark only fit Subaru Lambdas as they reckon that non-Subaru ones cause EM light to stay on!

Interested to see if your Denso one did the job at around 1/3 Subrau prices?

i've had to wait for payday to come around again but will hopefully order a Denso sensor after work today. From what i've read, that should do the trick.

On a side note, when the light first came on, it appeared to drive ok. Since then, it's started to feel a bit sluggish and is definitely not as smooth under reasonably hard acceleration. It's like there's a pause and then the power comes in a big lump.

Will let you know how i get on once i've replaced the sensor. I just hope the old one comes out ok

thanks guys.
FYI:
Spoke with Denso UK. Apparently for my year (2003) Denso Lambdas was fitted to EJ205 & EJ207 engines, at 165KW (power) and 195KW. Will be checking VIN plate tonight.

WorldCarParts were very helpful too. cheers

FYI:
Bought DENSO Lambda sensor (OEM) for '03 STi.
Had it fitted yesterday. EM light went off. All OK.
(1/3 of Subaru price)

No thanks to ScoobyClinic or Roger Clark for insisting that only Subaru's one would work!

Jura11 was spot on. cheers

I had mine sorted yesterday... I spent ages trying to get the old one out of the car on Monday, even cutting the sensor off so i could try a standard socket, but still couldn't get it to budge. I let my local garage have a go and they've got it out, stuck the new Denso one in and reset the warning light.

Picking it up later :-)
