Default Engine idle eratic with A/C on

Just had air con filled. When it's switched on the revs go up and down until the relay clicks off. Process repeats when cuts back in. Tested pump which is fine. Any help please

Under idle conditions my newage revs higher when the air con is on, then like yours the revs return to normal when switched off. I think this is probably the norm as the engine is having to turn the air con pump over which I would think puts added strain on the motor under idle conditions, unless mine is fubar'd to?!

I wouldn't mind if it revved slightly higher. It goes from 1000rpm to 2000rpm back down to 1000 and repeat

Had aircon on all day yesterday needed it! When switched on it rises by a couple 100 rpm! Not like bouncing between 1000-2000 rpm!

May need a tweak for fuel/idle under load, as a 1000rpm indicates it's hunting rather than compensating, had the same on my simtek

Fluctuation is normal by small amounts when A/C is on.

You can change it yourself on the PFC's Commander controller. There's an option for "Idle with A/C on". Make a note of the orignal figure (in case you need to revert back it), then experiment by altering the value up or down to suit. Repeat/change as necessary...

Your ECU - Apexi "PowerFC"? Well, I'm ASSUMING it's a PFC, no?

If so, do you have the Commander 'wand' thingy too? If so, as per my previous post ^^^

Er, what you mean it won't 'let' you change the value, or what?

I'm confused - it should be perfectly editable.

Something not right there - values should be IRO 850-1050rpm, or whatever. Certainly not "0".

Can you post up pics of that screen? Are you pressing the correct buttons/procedure to try to change the value?

Well, I've never seen that! Not sure whether that's normal?

It's the same for all the maps on it. If you plug it into a laptop, the true values appear but the handset is nothing but 0's

Weird. I thought the handset, when it was plugged into the PFC, simply showed all the values of the map (in effect, the PFC automatically 'downloads' the info to it).

I had the PFC on my previous WRX, and added the Comm. at a later date, and it immediately displayed all the appropriate map's values on it i.e. I didn't have to invoke it or anything like that.
