Default alarm

Hi all major problem on my car which i think is a common fault on subaru. When i visit certain places (which is alot) where i live. The keyfob will not lock the car and then when the immobiliser kicks in you can not start the car. Get it towed 100 yds down the road and its fine. Been told its interference from police, ambulance, fire service and as i cant see them changing there frequency anytime soon i wondered if there a way round it without ripping the system out THANKS

I may be wrong but i believe its to do with the frequency and power of the emergency services transmitters interfering with your alarm. I get the same thing at my nans where there is a mast for the local taxi firm. The only way around it is to manually type in the immobiliser code

Is it a sigma? If it is there a bloody nightmmare, lost count the amount of times i've had to push mine a few yards so i could start it.Its got something to do with radio masts and stuff like that jamming the signal for the alarm.Im getting rid of mine when i put my new engine in.

I had this problem on a my00 turbo 2000 classic, got stuck bloody every where, you can check here for mobile phone towers http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/

drove me bloody insane, the only thing that worked for me is lifting the bonnet and sticking the fob right up behind the steering wheel near the pedals.

There is supposed to be a metal plate that goes on the alarm to stop the interference, but Subaru were dragging their heels, so got a new alarm.

Just get a new alarm mate, it not worth the hassle.

Why don't you type in the pin as mentioned? It's only the remote being affected, not the Immobiliser.

If you have a working fob, you can change the PIN yourself. These Subaru guys you are dealing with sound like idiots.

Changing your PIN:

- Arm and then Disarm the system using a working Radio Key.

- Within 30 seconds of disarming, type into the keypad: *17856*92*wxyz*wxyz# (where wxyz is your new PIN code)

- Arm the system with the Radio Key

- You should now be able to disarm the system using the new PIN code

It should really be the first thing anyone does when they get an impreza with the sigma alarm. If you left it, and didn't have a working fob, then you'd be stuffed.
