Default which triple plate clutch

after burning out yet another exedy twin plate at the scooby shootout, its time for me to sort out a triple plate.after doing a bit of googling it seems that there are quite a few to choose from.the main three being.exedy,os giken and carbonetics.the car will be doing a lot more quarter mile work this year so i need a clutch that is going to cope with a lot of launches.but is still going to give reasonable drivability on the road.so what are you big boys using, how are they lasting and where do i go for the best deal.

Ive run a Carbonetic for some time without issue. Over 100 1/4 mile launches and a few track days. Its actually outlasted 2 engines.

For big power drag racing, it's hard to beat the OS Giken triple. It's taking everything we can throw at it on the Banana.

Mark.

you dont seem to hear much of the carbonetics being used on scoobs for some reason, but they do look a nice set up though.what power were you running on your engines.?

I am using a carbonetic on my big power classic, not tripple plate though. And I am very impressed - I give the car a verz hard time and not an ounce of complaint.

The foolproof option is to go with what Mark recomends. Tryed and tested as it were

Cheers
Steve

Last build was over 500bhp and when the engine came out the clutch looked like it was brand new, good on the road as well

well it seems like positive feedback on the carbonetics and os giken so far, which has suprised me tbh as i thought the exedy would be a more popular choice for people.

Well mine will be running over 650 hopefully soon and I have absolute faith it will be fine, and it gets driven very hard on the strip and track. I think AndyF ran a carbonetics at some point as well from memory but Im not sure

I know of an ( 550 bhp ) Ev* owner who was happy to launch his car by hitting the rev. limiter and dumping the Carbonetics Triple... clutch is now in another car, the engine failed.

I have the Carbonettic tripple plate in mine and it launches with no bother, its a hard pedal but it doesn't take long to get used to it. The clutch in the banana is much softer than mine but I can't remember if thats due to a hydraulic release bearing??

i have been on the phone to a carbonetic dealer today for some info, and they seam very reasonably priced compaired to the likes of the exedy triple plates.aparantly they do two sorts of plates, the first being for road, race and drag which has a decent oem feel for the road.the second is the type r plates which are more for drag and has a bit more of an on,off feel to the peddle.i will be doing a lot more drag but will still be used as a road car so i dont know if i did choose this clutch which plates to choose.i never thought picking a clutch would be so bloody hard.

Arf, what is the price for the carbonetics triple, and what is the lead time? Thinking I might get one on order.
