Sti Intercooler undertray onto Classic?
Hey guys, I'm trying to put a newage sti top mount intercooler onto my MY00 classic impreza. I'm aware there are several very good guides for doing this, and I think I have read pretty much all of them, but there seems to be one thing that none of them mention.......the bonnet scoop undertray? I was under the impression that aswell as buying the intercooler from a newage sti, I'd have to buy the matching bonnet scoop undertray aswell? Because there's no point in having a whacking great new intercooler if you keep the piddling small little intake hole you had before, right? I'm guessing that I'm wrong with that one though?
Here's my lovely bonnet scoop undertray from an sti version 7, courtesy of ebay......
And here's how out-of-line all the holes are compared to my original classic one (please excuse the crappy photoshop highlighting! - You wouldn't think I was a graphic designer would ya!)......
So my question is......am I wrong in buying the undertray from a newage sti? Or do I have to make it fit somehow? I want to avoid changing the actual bonnet scoop for the newer higher one if possible because I want to keep the car looking standard.
Thanks in advance for your help

use the furthest left hole on the undertray (to the left of the criss cross bit) and fit this into the furthest existing left hole on the bonnet
then drill a hole directly opposite in right side through undertray and into bonnet strengthening bar then fit a selt tapper.
you only need these 2 to fit, drilling the rest is just overkill.

Hi Gambit, what undertray have you actually got? The one I got off ebay said it was from a version 7 STI and it's different to the one in your pic. Only slightly, but it's definitely different. Have just tried it now and The Trooper 1815 was right - it doesn't fit

I've decided to custom build my own now anyway, so I'll let you all know how it goes!
