Default Questions for the engine mappers on here

I have recently had my head gaskets changed on my Hawkeye Sti PPP @ 75k miles and ended up with a new VF30 turbo in lieu of the original VF43 plus some forged pistons. The car seems to be pulling more strongly than before but that could be due to the injectors being checked and cleaned.

Is it worth having the car re-mapped as I believe the turbos have similar characteristics and understand the existing PPP map should cope fine?

Is it possible to have multiple maps? One for power and one for economy maybe combined with using non SUL petrol (do the two go hand in hand?) as I sometimes find it is not available when holidaying on the continent although I now carry around an octane booster for emergencies. What sort of power and/or economy improvements could I expect?

Whilst more power is always good, I do a lot of miles and with petrol the price it is at present less trips to the fuel pumps would be a bonus.

I’ve read recently about flat shifting – is that a possibility? Is it worth it? Are there any risks involved?

What sort of cost would be likely?

Thanks

simtek ecu's allow 2 maps, along with launch control, anti-lag, and i believe they can do flat foot shifting on hawkeye's, because they are drive by wire, as opposed to cable driven on earlier models.

as you now have a different compression ratio mostlikely (due to forged pistons and headgaskets) and a different to standard turbo.. stay off boost elswe you will damage the engine.

RaceRom allow two maps, flatshift, launch control, auto blip etc

Simtek is not available for drive by wire cars - ie. hawk and hatch.
