I know this may not be much help but id try giving it a decent run (dual carrageway, parkway) and warm the car up before you take it for the emissions test I heard it can work. Also dont quote me but i think the cat works at its best when hot. Let us know how you get on with things best of luck.

Aren't imports tested at a higher emissions since they don't have cats?

But as said, give it a good run to get it up to temperature.

actually thats a point they do still have cats but i think that up untill 1996 cars imported from japan for example can exceed UK limits by a mile. Im not sure why but i think its something to do with an agreement within the EU so japan does not apply.

I think if I've read the previous thread and vosa flow chart right you should be allowed up to 3.5% CO, that is the figure I remember testing to when I used to help out with MOTs on a saturday before cats were fitted. If your car still has the cats fitted and is not getting through then there must be something up there!

Have you asked the garage about wether it can be tested as a pre 96 import? They may not some accross this very often and may not know!

Had a chat with an MOT tester about this recently, seems that any car from 94 onwards now has to pass at .20% co or less.

you can be tested on the non cat test, which if you were close before you should pass
