Hi Rob
TD05 certainly can give you more top end grunt but you'll at least need a remap and depending what else you have already done other supporting mods.
Sports cats for a start as standard ones very restrictive.
To get best out of TD05 you'll probably need to upgrade your fuel system too, either bigger injectors or aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, also probably wise to fit better fuel pump too. With the 'bigger' turbo pumping more air in you obviously need more fuel too.
Is your car standard at the moment?

I have TD04 hybrid, max top end with them is about 320bhp, Im just under that but I really like the torque curve, its much lower in rev range than TD05. Makes a really nice drive but Im biased.
Plus be careful how far you go with a TD05 - I know they can put out 350bhp+ but torque can break gear boxes at least in the classics not sure about yours.
Plus you have to rev your engine hard to get the TD05 pumping.
benefit though is as standard units you can get big improvements and hybrids and a bit more expensive (although mine was a DIY job)
Look up other threads, as you can imagine this has been done a LOT

Another upgrade worth doinbg is a parallel fuel rail conversion. The OE fuel system has the injectors fed in series so the last injector is always a bit down. This does cause problems and is one of the reasons cylinder 3 can fail. Also inlet manifold spacers help keep the intake temperature down.

Rob - the TD04 I have is a hybrid, that is TD04 body, with the biggest exhaust wheel and upgraded compressor so you're looking at a new turbo anyway, check out Andy Forrest online for turbos and what they can do.
Ditto parallel fuel rail conversion. Must admit I havent got round to that yet.
Miltek sports cats for your exhaust and remap will be a help anyway, give you more torque lower down.

I fitted a TD05 FE Conversion to my bug wrx and ran it at 325 BHP.........very nice drive
Panel filter, de-cat, sti injectors, walbro fuel pump, harvey ported headers, 3-port, NGK PFR7B plugs, STi TMIC and re-mapped.
Also did the brakes and suspension at the same time
