Default Hot oil - time for an oil cooler?

Had my GB270 engine modded last year running 360ish BHP and had Prosport gauges fitted at the same time - generally the oil runs about 95 to 100 degrees but when pushing on abit it gets easily upto 105 to 108 on the gauge - seen a couple of articles on oil loosing it's visocity at around 110 degrees - wondering if I should get an after market oil cooler?

Are the gauges that accurate - using the engine sensor not a sandwich plate.

If yes for an oil cooler then what one to get and are they an easy self install? Any advice/help muchly appreciated.

Also is it worth using an aftermarket oil filter rather than a Subaru one - got to do a half yearly oil change and always used the Subaru standard ones before.

Using Silkolene/Fuchs Pro S 10w50.

Cheers

Your car seems to be doing exactly what it suppose to be doing, 110deg is normal when pushing it, get up to 120-130 and your more likely to need to relax the right foot a little.
Your oil seems more than suitable too, dont think you need be worrying just yet

Default Hot Oil?

Cheers for the replies guys - was a bit concerned that the oil was getting too hot but glad it's in normal limits. Money for the oil cooler and install can be spent on something else now

120 maximum... mine crept up to 125 on a cooling-down lap, so I panicked and bought a cooler. In reality 95% of the time it's at 92 degrees, short of a banzai attack run !

mine goes up to 100 on the road, usually after a blast and then sitting in traffic, at brands it went up to 110ish, and maybe a bit more after long session.

i might invest in one but seems a waste if its just for road use.
