Subaru Bugeye Engine Management Error ODB Reader?
Hey guys
My Impreza has had the engine management light on for a couple of days now. Subaru want £80+VAT and the nearest none offical place I can find is 40+ miles away and I cannot get there whilst they are open due to work.
Anyone in or around the Stafford/Walsall/Cannock/Stoke area who has a reader who can help me out, maybe I could meet up one night this week to find out what my problem is?
Cheers.

Same OBD2 Port mate, Obviously the VAG software is pointless, however you may need to download it so the drivers will work for Learning View
Here is a picture of mine for piece of mind
Hope this helps,
Rob
PS you will obviously need a laptop, or an extension lead and a PC & Desktop on Castors

Right, thanks for the offer. I used to live in willenhall too. But my kit arrived from eBay and my error code is po171 engine running lean. So seems either an o2 sensor or the maf sensor. I will try some carb cleaner on the maf tomorrow, but if that doesn't work easy way to diagnose it more...
As I recently removed the induction kit I hope its just that the maf needs a clean.

You must be careful cleaning the MAF sensor! Your more likely to damage it cleaning it then you'll have to buy one. Are you actually having performance problems or is the light just coming on? You need a tester that gives you live data!

Performance is down too, my car feels like a 160 bhp car not a 225 bhp car.
I have been taking it easy since the problem, but I want it sorting ASAP.

IMHO I don't recon cleaning the MAF is gonna help, try it but don't go prodding it or use a compressed air line blower on it! Spray it at and let it air dry, it won't take long! It could be that as the cars ECU is seeing a fault it could be going into safe mode! You might even have an air/vacuum leak. I'd recommend you take a couple of hours off work and go to a diag centre or bite the bullet and pay the £80 and get a full diag test done and get the live readings checked. They can check the voltage readings on the various items and see if the O2 sensor is switching. Of course you could do it yourself with a bit of care and a multi meter

Right my MAF sensor was full of dirty obscuring the actual sensor, I have cleaned it up with brake fluid spray. Now just need it to dry off and refit then test.
Hopefully that has fixed the problem.

The MAF sensor is now clean and my car is still driving poorly. So it's an o2 sensor by the look of it. I am going to change the spark plugs while I am at it.
