ive heard a few people have 5spd clutches fitted to there 6spd set up,
is there any reason for using the 5spd clutch over the 6spd
as im changing to a 6spd set up and am goin to order my clutch so was curious to find out if theres any beneift in using the 5spd clutch rather than the 6spd clutch

If you're changing to a 6 speed because you need a stronger box, fitting a 5 speed clutch is pointless.
The 6 speed clutch will take quite a bit more torque, and also comes with the anti judder disk.

As the 6 speed version Exedy now has an anti-judder friction plate I would go with that. As above, will take more torque.
The only thing with 6 speeds is you are limited to certain flywheel weights if going aftermarket, but that said the OEM 6 speed is a lot lighter than the OEM 5 speed anyhow.

Thanks guys.for the info. My cars my daily driver and have no plans to increase the power above what i have the now 355bhp on my hawkeye wrx. So would.i be better just keeping the standard 6spd flywheel and.get it skimmed for the new clutch or would i be better just to get a new lightend flywheel.
I dont track the car but do like spirited drive.
What do u think would be best?
Cheers tom

If your going from a 5 to a 6 speed set up, then I suppose it's cheaper to not bother getting the 6 speed flywheel and clutch and stick with the existing 5 speed setup. Especially if you've already got an expensive, upgraded setup, before getting the 6 speed box.

It's all down to personal preference and budget. I love lightweight flywheels and the difference they make to the throttle response.
Give me a call whether you just want a clutch kit or for a package deal

Tom,
I believe the Hawkeye WRX uses a "push" clutch, NOT a standard "pull" clutch, so you'll have to change a few other parts too, to convert to 6 speed/normal clutch.
Exedy do do a Pink box 5 speed "push" clutch, but you won't have much head room with 355bhp.

Tom,
So long as you get the slave cylinder, and the 6 speed fork, it should be fine.
Once you get a price, call me to make sure it is the "UK's Best Price"

Flipping the original question, is it possible to fit the stronger 6sp clutch kit (or at least the friction plate) to the 5sp box, then?
If so, then is the OEM 6sp clutch much stronger than the best aftermarket 5sp kits?

Sorry to jump in but is the 5 speed slave cylinder different to the 6 speed, am using my original 5 speed cylinder on a 6 speed box an feel the clutch could travel a wee bit move to work properly. is the different cylinder my prob
