Motec ECU upgrade
#1
I'm considering upgrading my ECU as i have a '97 WRX and wanted to tune it to run on optimax.
Is the Motec system worth the money or am i better off with a chip conversion such as the GGR stage 1?

Thought about the link before???
It is slight more simpler than the Link but also less expensive... the new ecu has a 10 row data chip.. so loads of mapping scope!
Get mine fitted in 2 weeks!

Think about the GEMS as well, this is slightly cheaper than the Motec, and has 2 'switchable' maps, where as the Motec has only one. i.e. settings to run on Optimax & NUL. I think its about £1500 fitted and mapped, speak to Town End Garage 01524 733837

Agree with Plantie, go for the link. Have run both Link and Motec systems for some time.
I would only recommend going to Motec if you was planning some SERIOUS mods, Link will suit you down to the ground.

The wiring looms are different between pre MY97 and post MY98. Remember that if you want to move a Motec between these year cars, you will need a new look adapter. And at £150 + VAT not cheap, plus then you will have the joys of re-mapping it. If you were to get the link or motec from BRD, a re-map for a link is some what cheaper than that of a re-map for a motec.
