Garage oil NIGHTMARE on H6R
Please help or give advice! I am back on scoobynet after a 10 year break!
Went to pick up my new motor yesterday. An 04 Legacy H6RN 3.0. Estate with LPG conv from a large Motor supermarket.
Drove it 3 miles dow the road and accelerated onto the motorway (quickly!).
Got to 4000 rpm, coughed and wouldn't rev higher. The engine warning light came on. so did the electronic stability do hickey light and cruise control started flashin. Obviously on limp home mode.
Gutted doesn't even come close!
Got it home and phoned the salesman giving them what for. We agreed could be due to low LPG, so I filled it. If that didn't work to call out recovery.
Green flag arrived, did code read and it showed NEAR SIDE BANK VAIRIABLE VALVE ACTUATOR OIL FAULT (or something similar). We checked the oil and it was over full, by about 1.5 litres (and did the garage find out about that this morning!).
QUESTION IS:
What other affects can this have on the H6 Lump? Will it massivley damage other parts of my engine? I fitted 2 new engines to my last scoob (1.8 impreza) due to oil problems and I don't want want to do that again! Please offer any wisdome!

The main problem is pressurising the crank case and blowing oil seals.
You may have screwed up the Cat with oily fuel being burned.
Get the oil and filter changed and check for any leaks and if the clutch slips which it will if you've blown the rear main seal.
If it was me i'd have it looked over very carefully checking as I said for leaks and get a compression test done incase its blown a ring.
If you have any doubts get your money back.

There was no masses of smoke, which I thought was strange. Clutch won't slip as its an auto. However it is currently with a Subaru Specialist who have picked up cylinder 3 has low compression.
They are saying valve problem, but I can't see how this would reduce compression. The code read did say something about variable valve control, could this knacker up?
If I do keep it, (because I always wanted one since I test drove one at the top gear show in '05), I think they may have to sort out a very good warranty package!

The valve problem could be a damaged valve seat which would show low compression.
If there was loads of black smoke it probably won't now pass an emissions test as the Cat may be fooked.
You really need to think with your head and not your heart dude. Make sure the ALL the work is carried out properly.
If its with an independant garage just ask them to give you a quote to fix it.
