Default Calling Mappers - Who has Mapped a Billet MD321H

Car is an 03 STI, it has standard internals apart from fuel pump and planned flow matched uppipe and ported headers. What will I gain by swapping the standard turbo to a Billet MD321H, will car be more laggy? Any pointers appreciated as well as expected torque and bhp. Ready to push the button based on comments.

Thoughts also on an 18g please? I want a very fast spooling road car, no set on daft figures, just something reliable, spooly and torquey.

If you are looking for spooly and torquey turbo,i will recommend VF34 which perform same like 18G and power around 360bhp without problem from good one.
About the MD321H these turbo are great and are much more suited to WRX,due missing AVCS,great thread about this is here, hope will help

If you want instant spool look into a twinscroll setup or keep vf35 just get headers ported and get a proper matched uppipe

Your existing turbo is probably 340 bhp capable with all mods. That doesn't mean you will make 340 bhp but that is what your turbo can do if all supporting mods are done. Both the VF34 and 18G are typically 360 bhp turbos and I know my own 18Gs are fast spooling however, an uplift of only 20 bhp potential is not really a lot so you have to balance that against your overall requirements.
Typically a 321H will do 390-400 bhp. I think the spool will be a little less than the 34/18G but you do have potential for 50 bhp more. It really depends on what you are trying to do and what you will be happy with. In my experience if you go to a turbo that is slower spooling your driving style changes slightly to accomodate that. For instance you have your foot on the floor half a second earlier to perform an overtaking maneuvre or you have your foot on the floor a few yards earlier going round a corner when you are driving at ten tenths.
