You can but the bill will be much more than that for an alloy wheel and tyre

The issue with having different sized wheels is that the rolling circumference of the tyres will most definitely be different and your center diff will overheat and fail due to trying to get the front and back wheels to rotate at the same speed.

If you want, you can do the calculations and put different sized wheels while having the same rolling circumference tyres, but for the time spent and cost of tires, it would be easier to simply put 17s or 18s on all 4 corners.

For 8 miles you will be fine. After all the spare is much smaller than that and causes no damage for short periods of time. I thought you wanted to use 17/18s as a long term solution

Nope not illegal at all, there are a hand full of cars that have bigger wheels at the back and smaller at the front (think hot rods and what not )

Usually spare wheels are around a 13/14 inch, if it was illegal to have different wheels we wouldn't be able to use spare wheels

If its a 2 wheel drive car, you can do this, as long as the wheels are the same "across the axle" but do not try this on a 4 wheel drive, as stated before, it will kill the diff trying to keep the speed the same

I think their is a Spare fuse in the engine bay fuse box which when put in the correct place disables the rear diff and makes car front wheel drive only well thats what i read about my 04 wrx

, Not on your car matey i'am afraid ,if you buy a impreza that is automatic and non turbo then there is a fuse holder near the drivers side bulk head that if you insert a fuse it makes the car FWD,however if you have a impreza/legacy automatic with a turbo, then the inserting a fuse into the fuse holder locks the centre diff giving 50/50 split which is great for when driving on ice or gravel, but not recommended for normal road use or tarmac..

Are you sure it's a WRX you're driving and not a Vauxhall?
