Turbo recomendations
Hi guys
Bit of advice really on what turbo i should get.
Im after minimum 300bhp (would like 320bhp) but with quick fast spooling. like the spool of the td04.
car is a 1999 clasic wagon uk2000.
Has fmic, walbro 255, fuel lab fpr with parrallel fuel rails. 3 inch decat turbo back. headers and up pipe changed to but not sure what brand.
Also apexi avcr

With VF34 you never go wrong, probably best upgrade for Classic WRX/STi or New age WRX.
VF35 are trust bearing turbos and VF34 are ball bearing turbos...

VF34
The VF34 is nearly identical to the VF30, with the same exhaust housing and compressor. However the VF34 goes back to the ball bearing design, and in doing so achieves full boost approximately 500RPM sooner than the comparable VF30. The VF34 is the most recent IHI design and as such costs slightly more than its counterpart. Top end performance and maximum output are identical to the 30

Yeah, I know the '04 tails off, but if the OP wants the ultimate in spool/drivability........................
But that said, it's not as if the VF35/VF34/VF29/VF28 are tardy spoolers, after all -- so agree they're all a great choice.
Another one to consider is the SC36 Billet...

one of mates just installed a SC turbo of some sort however when he told us and a few mates we thought he had bought some cheap junk as we've never heard of it! he said its rated @ 400bhp or 500? can't remember but he did have his car remapped last week by GGM at Surrey rolling road with ALS and L/Control

got standard td05 16g on my 95 classic running 335bhp and 325ftlb torque
you will have to change injectors aswell for that kind of power 550's probably best 440's would be running at 100% cycle, got 550's in mine there running at 80%

Not a bad choice if you get a good one , you can pick one up for less than half the price of a used vf34/35 and can quite comfortably make 320 bhp, with supporting mods .Quite quick spool up too,but better midrange than your td04,if its quick spooling, then you will struggle to beat andy forrest hybrid as Joz says imho.

Owning a STi 5, it originally had a VF28 as OEM fitment, and it's a pleasingly early spooling device, with decent tug to the redline. Olly at RCM told me they can be mapped to 330bhp. That'd be right on the limit of their puff, though.
