I have a jdm bug sti 7, I have noticed that in some gears my car boosts at 1.4 bar, sometimes usually in 2nd and 3rd gear the car will boost to 1.4 then reduce to about 1.2. 1.4 seems a bit high for a car that only has a KnN panel filter and cat back exhaust. Thanks

 

Its a JDM so would be pushing around 300bhp out of the factory, though a rolling road would really say if she is running in tip top condition and are you sure she has not been mapped for UK fuel?
The boost reduction is normal too at higher revs

Thanks for the reply, I have had her on the rollers back in spetember, made 282bhp, but this was with a pitch black airfilter that had obviously never been changed, and a dodgy camshaft sensor. The original filter was replaced with a KnN panel filter, I havent had the car back on the rollers but assume the power maybe closer to 290 now. Was wondering if the car was overboosting?

 

are you sure your boost gauge is reading right, some boost gauges are not that true

 

You have a point, its a Depo boost gauge, I will see if i can borrow one and check the reading is the same.

would you happen to know what the correct amount of boost is for this car?

sorry dude i onlynow the old clasic sti were around 1.1 bar not sure if the new age ones are the same or not

 

my blob gets 1.4 bar on standard turbo with k&n panel filter and decat exhaust and remap.
