Default MAF info / wrong one fitted ???

Hi all,

I have a UK Turbo, MY00 and narrowed down my probs (slight hesitate etc) to the MAF...

Thing is, I have been told th UK '99/00 years are the same and all info supports that - but they have a 5 pin connection - but the one on my car is 4

So does anyone know if the 5 pin one is correct & I have the wrong one fitted to my car ?
Which would certainly indicate that it is a MAF problem !

Cheers in advance,

the hesitation you are feeling is it on partial throttle between say 2.5-3krpm?

full throttle there is no hesistation?

all std UK my99/00 ecu's do this. i tried everything to reduce it, new maf, plugs & leads. it was always present. when i swapped over to the prodrive ECU its gone!

Spot on Gambit !

It's been like it ever since had the car (only about 2 mths). It had an O2 code when bought it so fitted a replacement & that's cleared but it still had this little issue around 2.5k up to 3k ish (just before boost) then all's fine.
I may still get a MAF after reading about the horror storys about them on this year.

I am certainly getting a few of the usual mods done later in the year and a re-map so can the Prodrive be re-mapped ? If so, may have to add that to the list !

My MY99 did not do this, the 2000 models where prone to it.

the horror stories you read are about the early maf's that came fitted to the my99/00 cars from factory. these were weak. subaru then superceded the weak maf with a better item. you can tell if your car has the superceded part as it will have a green stripe on it. saying that i changed mine when i bought the car even though it had a green stripe one it. just done it as part of a full service i gave it.

iif you are getting a remap then they will remove the hesistation you get in the ecu anyhow. you just have to live with it until then!

Thanks again Gambit,

Mine has the green stripe on the side - the hesitation isn't too troublesome, just annoying knowing it's there...

I may then double my saving efforts & get a map sooner than planned !

Yep, it's standard

Mine is a '00 model & slightly improved it by fitting an ECU from a '99 model - but I've learned to drive round it now !
