oil pressure gauge question
can you just replace the original oil pressure sensor under the alternator with an aftermarket gauge sensor and do without the original sensor without any side affects,
i am aware that you can get an adaptor to run both, just wondering is there much point or advantages in doing so?
cheers guys

If you do it that way then the oil light will not work at all, nothing wrong with doing it like that though if you don't mind missing the oil light.
I like my oil light, so i bought the adapter to run both.
If the gauge or sender decide to play up then at least I'll have some warning or indication.

We recommend not using an adapter because it creates more opportunities for leaks. We DO recommend using a gauge with a setable warning light or buzzer so you still have the safety the OEM light provides. In fact, we recommend setting the warning light/buzzer to 1bar (minimum factory spec for oil pressure at idle) NOT the .1bar that triggers the OEM sensor/light. This way you can see prblems before they may happen compared to the factory light that often comes on where there's NO oil flow, not low oil flow.
