17x7.5J should be more likely to fit rather than 7 inch wide like the WRX rims.
I don't think there are any 17x7's that fit, so if you come across them, leave them out.

I reckon an ET of 45mm and you'll be fine (the 330mm K-Sport calipers fit under 17" x 7J ET45 alloys on my car - so is a fair indicator for the Brembos).

Possibly might get away with it being as shallow as 37...???

I'd have to disagree about the K-Sports being an indicator for Brembo's fitting.
The STi gold Brembo's are wider than all of the aftermarket calipers (K-Sports, AP's etc), hence the fitting issues all the time. Even an aftermarket brembo kit close to the size (300mm instead of the STi 326mm) goes under most 17's.

I have WRX 17" wheels on mine, they clear the REAR Brembos, and my front Brembos are slightly smaller than the STi ones, being from Godspeed, and they clear those too

Fair point.

I assumed (never do that!) that the Brems were of similar dimensions/position on the hubs, to the K's.

Yeah, unfortunatley not.
The gold Brembo's seem a decent upgrade most of the time, but when you factor in that you may want to change wheels one day, you'd be better off with a proper aftermarket kit.

Well, at least you're the 'right' side of 40.

It'll be touch and go I reckon...

Mine are ET 44mm on an 8" rim...

BUT it's all about the shape of the spokes. My OZ's are flat as a pancake and missed by miles.
