do i need a remap for a decat

Default do i need a remap for a decat

hi everyone i have a ej20gdx1ne and just wondered if i need to map a decat exhaust to the car or will i be able to fit it and run it fine? thanks in advance

Here we go! I was told defo get a remap if decating the zorst.

so was i but also was told that most scoobys are ok with it lol i think i will fit it then if it doesnt run right put old one on untill i can map it, want it mapped anyway power mad lol cheers lads

In short yes. I would never recommend running the car into boost after a decat as they over shoot boost target quite easily.

If i'm right your code relates to an early auto classic? Have you got a means to remap the car, like a mappable ecu or ESL?

might not last long without the map if its decatted unless you drive like a nun till its mapped not worth the risk mate. Maybe save a bit more and get them done at once. I had a 98 classic and was booked in for a unichip piggyback ecu to be fitted. The week before it a had a sports catted system put on and drove it. Enjoyed the extra noise and power.

Once i went for the unichip they said it was running very lean, luckily i hadn done any damage.

If you fit it get your fueling etc checked just for piece of mind if nothing else.

As above if you dont have it remapped then expect issues.
