Default stalling after rev ?????

i have a 2001 sti subaru forester and today i was driving home and the car died oil light came on there was a little puff of smoke from where the intake is located ??? it was raining today also there is a hole next to the intake
also when i give a slight tap on the accelerater it almost stalls and from the exhaust i can smell raw fuel ?? it has stalled on a couple of occasions

any help would be greatly appreciated

Could be the idle control valve (icv) gunged up. Try searching with regards cleaning as there used to be loads about it, otherwise try the NASIOC- lol I've not been here for a while.

However, the fuel smell and puff of smoke are not usually a sign of an iffy icv!? Do you have it decatted and if so are you sure the 'rich' smell isn't just that?

Errrrr, hole in the inlet???

Unmetered air entering the system causing lean running.

it has been decatted i will give the icv and maf a look over what is the nasoic
also how would i be able to check if there is a leak in the inlet ??? it has a hks mushroom filter on it

I read it as you have a hole in the inlet tract. Probably in error.

Does sound like an air leak to me. Check the inlet manifold nuts are tight, another way to check is to spray carb/brake cleaner around where it joins the heads. If the revs rise then you know you have a leak in that area. Check all pipes, especially the one that connects to the turbo. They do split and crack.

Smile fixed

took it too the shop today to get it sorted ended up touching the throttle position sensor so had to get that set again turns out i needed a new maf sensor was cactus also i forgot to mention that it had a blow off valve anyway turns out that is where the idling problem is coming from getting it replumbed to a standard one thanks for all the help guys
