sump gasket help pls

Default sump gasket help pls

hi all gave my mate a hand to change the sumpgasket on his 1995 wrx finally got it done and put 4l of oil in it and when checked on the dipstick it was bone dry the tube has gone back into the sump so what have we done to cause this any help would be great as he does not want to damage it if something wrong thanks

do they have a sump gakset i thought they just had sealent on them.
and i think they need 4.5 lt oil ,so you need a bit more oil
as long as its not coming out on the road

They dont have a gasket.... you just use sealant on them to seal them to the block.

no gasket on a subaru sump, they use tripplebond sealant, not sure what you've fit mate but I dare bet its not ment to be there

I know they don't have a gasket as such maybe should have been more clear have just as you say re sealed it surly it would show on the dipstick if only half a litre short and no leaks nothing

Sounds daft but you have pushed the dipstick tube fully home into the sump havnt you as that would cause the same issue

I had this problem, just needed to knock the tube down from the top to knock it in

yeah thats what i thought at first but seems to be fully in but i will get him to double check in the morning and see from there i guess
